The Enneagram is a powerful model that describes nine different personality types. Each type has unique talents and challenges. Below is a detailed description of each type, including the main pitfalls and growth points.
Type 1 – The Perfectionist

Driven by a deep desire for improvement and perfection. They strive for order, integrity, and justice and have a strong inner critic who motivates them to always get the best out of themselves and others.
- Strengths: Honest, disciplined, responsible, and committed to high standards.
- Challenges: Have difficulty letting go of control and can judge themselves and others (too) strictly. They often experience frustration when things don’t go the way they think they ‘should’ go.
- Growth path: Learning to deal with imperfection, being softer to oneself, and enjoying the moment without constantly improving.

Type 2 – The Helper

Warm, caring, and empathetic. They focus on the needs of others and get satisfaction from giving love and support. They feel valued when they are needed and like to play a connecting role in relationships.
- Strengths: Loving, intuitive, supportive, and generous.
- Challenges: Find it difficult to set their own boundaries and can efface themselves to make others happy. They have difficulty receiving and can become dependent on the appreciation of others.
- Growth path: Learning to give consciously without losing oneself and also acknowledging and expressing one’s own needs and feelings.

Type 3 – The Winner

Ambitious and goal-oriented. Success and performance are central to their lives. They are energetic, competitive, and efficient and can adapt well to achieve their goals.
- Strengths: Charismatic, determined, result-oriented, and inspiring.
- Challenges: They may place too much value on external recognition and suppress their true feelings. They may feel that their self-worth is dependent on their performance.
- Growth path: Slowing down and dwelling on their authentic feelings and learning that they are valuable apart from success and achievements.

Type 4 – The Romantic

Sensitive and creative, always looking for meaning and depth in life. They have a rich inner world and want to distinguish themselves through their authenticity and originality.
- Strengths: In-depth, expressive, intuitive and artistic.
- Challenges: May lose themselves in melancholy and feelings of inadequacy. They often compare themselves to others and sometimes feel left out or ‘different’.
- Growth path: Learning to appreciate the present moment, embrace their emotions without getting stuck in them, and see that they are already complete as they are.

Type 5 – The Observer

Analytical and investigative. They collect knowledge and like to understand how the world works. They enjoy independence and often withdraw to preserve their energy.
- Strengths: Intelligent, insightful, curious and strategic.
- Challenges: May seem emotionally distant and have difficulty expressing their feelings. They tend to withdraw and keep relationships at bay.
- Growth path: Connect more with their emotions and learn that vulnerability is not a weakness, but a bridge to deeper connections.

Type 6 – The Loyalist

Reliable, responsible and loyal. They are looking for certainty and are alert to risks and possible dangers. They have a strong sense of responsibility and value trust and stability.
- Strengths: Dutiful, loyal, protective, and devoted.
- Challenges: They can struggle with fear and uncertainty and are prone to having a lot of doubts. They seek validation from others and may have difficulty trusting their own judgment.
- Growth path: Relying more on their own intuition and letting go of excessive worries about “what if” scenarios.

Type 7 – The Adventurer

Lively and spontaneous and always looking for new experiences. They love fun, variety and possibilities and like to avoid negative emotions and limitations.
- Strengths: Enthusiastic, optimistic, versatile and innovative.
- Challenges: Can be restless, impulsive, and have difficulty sitting still. They avoid depth and difficult emotions, which sometimes makes them seem superficial.
- Growth path: Learning to be present in the moment, even when it is difficult, and allowing depth into their lives.

Type 8 – The Leader or Boss

Powerful, direct and protective. They like to take the lead and fight for justice. They are strong-willed and do not allow themselves to be influenced by others.
- Strengths: Courageous, independent, just, and protective.
- Challenges: Can come across as intimidating and have difficulty with vulnerability. They often do not allow emotions and can be tough.
- Growth path: Learning that vulnerability is not a weakness but rather a strength and making room for softness and connection.

Harmonious, relaxed and accommodating. They avoid conflicts and strive for inner and outer peace. They are good at adapting and respecting others.
- Strengths: Patient, empathetic, peace-loving, and accepting.
- Challenges: Can self-efface and become passive. They avoid confrontation and have difficulty expressing their own opinions and needs.
- Growth path: Making more of their own choices, daring to express what they want and taking action to realize their dreams.
